This project focuses on bringing Kannada script closer to the web. In today’s time, when local content is valued most, there isn’t any Kannada type designed for the web. Through ‘Chukki’, we would be able to challenge the Language and the Medium to co-exist.
Working on a kannada typeface for web is challenging for various reasons:
1. The form of the aksharas (letters) doesn’t seem compatible the techonlogical limitations of the web.
2. Legibility and readability are still major issues on the web, when it comes to Kannada web pages.
3. The design of standards for the Kannada scripts is still in progress. It would be challenging to understand such a situation and keep the design process dynamic.
